She sees how your pup does in a group and gets vaccination records and a signed waiver sorted, so every dog on the bus is safe.

03

Pickup at your door

On adventure days the purple bus rolls up and your dog hops in with the crew, calm and familiar.

04

Off to the grounds

A few hours at the private, fenced park: supervised play and enrichment in small groups, then a calm wind-down on the ride home.

05

Home, happy & tired

Meet Michelle

The human behind the wheel.

Michelle started Tails on the Bus (formerly Ancaster Dog Adventures) after deciding she wanted to spend more of her days outdoors and around animals, and she hasn't looked back since. What began as a love for dogs grew into a job she looks forward to every morning: getting to know each pup, watching them make friends out on the grounds, and bringing them home happy and worn out. She loves every minute of it, and the dogs can tell.

She's also certified in Canine Behaviour Education through Georgian College, training built on positive, science-based methods for reading dogs and keeping group play safe and fun.

Good questions

Frequently asked

What areas do you serve?

We pick up and drop off throughout Ancaster, Ontario. Not sure if you're in range? Just ask when you request your meet & greet.

Do dogs go out solo or in a group?

Our adventures are group outings. That's the whole point. Dogs get to socialize, play and explore together at our gated grounds, always supervised. Your dog's fit with the group is exactly what the meet & greet is for.

Is my dog a good fit?

Most social, friendly dogs love it. The free meet & greet lets Michelle meet your pup, see how they do around other dogs, and make sure everyone has a great time.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain or shine, the dogs go out and play. A little weather doesn't stop the fun. On wet or muddy days, Michelle takes the time at each drop-off to wipe down and clean every dog before they head back inside, so your pup comes home happy and tired without tracking the outdoors in with them. On very cold days (around −20°C or colder), adventures may be paused for the dogs’ safety, so please hold off booking if the forecast is past your pup’s comfort level.

How does pickup work, do you need a key?

Whatever works best for your home. Michelle is flexible and sorts out safe access with each owner one-on-one, whether that's a lockbox, an automated or smart lock, a garage code, or simply greeting you at the door. Every dog's pickup and drop-off routine is tailored to your lifestyle, so the days run smoothly whether you're home or not.

When are pickup times?

We run Monday to Friday. Morning pickups are roughly between 8 and 9 AM, with drop-offs back home between 11 AM and noon. Afternoon pickups run between noon and 1 PM, with drop-offs between 3 and 4 PM. Your exact window depends on where you are on the route.

Can I book regular weekly spots?

Yes, lots of families do. Once your dog is set up, you can hold a regular weekly spot so you’re not rebooking every week. Just let Michelle know the days you’d like when you request your meet & greet.

What vaccinations do you require?

For everyone's safety on group adventures, Michelle follows the same standard that daycares and group dog services across Ancaster, Hamilton and the greater Toronto area use. Your dog should be up to date on rabies (required by Ontario law for any dog over three months), the DHPP/DA2PP combination (distemper, adenovirus/hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus), and Bordetella, the kennel cough vaccine that's standard for any dog in a group setting. Canine influenza and leptospirosis aren't required but are worth a chat with your vet if your pup is out and about a lot. We also ask that every dog stay on regular flea, tick and heartworm prevention, since they play together up close. Nothing to send ahead of time, Michelle will go over your dog's records with you at the free meet-and-greet.

How much does it cost?

Adventures are $50 per dog, and $37.50 for each additional dog from the same household. You'll find everything that's included up in the rates section, and we'll go over it all at your free meet & greet.

Are you insured?

Yes. Tails on the Bus is fully insured and Michelle is Pet First Aid certified.
